You may be aware of Cannondale’s more “Elite” line of bikes but if you haven’t seen the company’s other bikes, then their Urban line may be something that just might interest you. The Cannondale Bad Boy is rugged and tuff to get you through the jungles of downtown or the mud of a nearby trail. Cannondale has taken their technology and created a tuff bike.
Cannondale calls the Bad Boy an “anti-bling statement” which truly sums this bike up. There are two models in this line up of which are the Bad Boy Solo Headshock and the Bad Boy Solo. Both are lightweight, responsive and offers the rider good visibility while riding. This bike is both rack and fender ready and you even get fork options of Cannondale’s Headshock Solo DL50 that offers hydraulic damping and lockout or the Fatty Rigid which is more traditional.
Cannondale Bad Boy Solo Headshock
The suggested retail price for the Solo Headshock is $1,389 which isn’t bad for what you get. This Bad Boy starts with a frame that is the Bad Boy Stealth, Hydroformed Double Butted 6061 alloy, Headshock. This frame rides on Schwalbe Kojak Race Guard 700X28c tires and Maddux SR300 rims which are dressed with black stainless XD spokes. The Bad Boy stops with Shimano M505 brakelevers and brakes.
While you are holding on to the Cannondale Cityscape Urban Lock-on black chrome grips and pedaling the Cannondale Octopus Urban pedals by Wellgo, you can sit comfortable on the Cannnondale Bad Boy Urban saddle. Yes, this is indeed a bad boy with no rear shock or extras but the looks and balance this bike offers is high class. Any rider will be stylin’ with this bike whether they are uptown or downtown.
Cannondale Bad Boy Solo
The Solo is priced about $1,069 and is priced right for this unique ride. The sturdy frame is the Cannondale Bad Boy Urban, Mech. Formed 6061 Alloy, 700c. You’ll be riding on Schwalbe Kojak Race Guard 700X28c tires which move from the power of the Shimano M431, 48/36/26 Custom Bad Boy crank and a KMC X9 Nano black chain which is moved by Shimano Deore M590 shifters. Braking is provided by Shimano M445 brakes and brakelevers which slow down your Maddux SR300 700C rims.
Like the Solo Headshock, there is no rear shock and no extras but again the ride on the Cannondale Bad Boy Urban is one like no other. The Wellgo Platform, Resin, Cromo Axle pedals accept almost every street shoe. You can if you want, add on fenders and a rear rack and it comes standard with the Cannondale one-year limited warranty.
The Bad Boy will treat you right in the city and makes a great commuter ride. On the plus side, it does come in different sizes so even tall guys (6′ 2″ for example) can ride with no problems on the XL version. On the down side, it only comes in one color (black matte) and the saddle could have a little more cushion.
The Cannondale Bad Boy Solo Headshock and Solo are great bikes and you won’t be steered wrong by investing in one. The Bad Boy’s handle great and are lightweight which is what you need in urban areas.
